Dr. Russell H. Tobe serves as Opengate's Medical Director and Psychiatrist. Dr. Tobe received his medical degree from the University of Chicago-Pritzker School of Medicine in 2005, completed residency in adult psychiatry at Columbia University Medical Center and the New York State Psychiatric Institute in 2009, and completed his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at the New York State Psychiatric Institute and New York Presbyterian Hospital - Columbia/Cornell in 2011. He is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and has also served as consulting psychiatrist to New York State Office for People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD), where he acted as Medical Director for the Region 3 Crisis Services for people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. Dr. Tobe has received numerous teaching and service awards, presented at national and international conferences, and published dozens of peer-reviewed manuscripts in prominent academic journals.
