We provide person-centered employment planning and support services designed to help program participants secure employment and advance in their careers. Opengate has a dedicated team of specialized professionals who assist with career exploration, resume building, application support, interview preparation, employment training, and effective communication with employers, while also advocating for the people we support.
Participants have the opportunity to learn with the guidance of a direct support professional at their place of employment until they can work independently.
Our primary goal is to facilitate continued employment at or above minimum wage that aligns with personal and career aspirations. Above all, we are committed to supporting program participants in realizing their potential, achieving independence, and thriving in their new roles.
Through our partnership with CAREERS, we are pleased to offer an expanded range of services to help each person prepare for, secure, and succeed in meaningful employment, including:
Comprehensive skills and strengths assessments
Resume development and interview preparation
Job development and customized job searches
Interview support, including accompaniment when needed
On-the-job coaching to ensure a smooth transition
Long-term follow-up and ongoing support for sustained success
Opengate Expanded Employment Program through Partnership with CAREERS SUPPORT Solutions
Our new partnership with CAREERS Support Solutions expands our employment support services, offering new opportunities and possibilities for the individuals we support. Founded in 1987, CAREERS has become the leading supported employment program in Westchester and Putnam Counties for individuals with intellectual, developmental, psychiatric, and physical disabilities seeking job training, placement, and ongoing workplace support. Over the past several decades, CAREERS has supported more than 6,000 individuals and facilitated over 2,700 successful job placements across various industries, including:
